Growing Things
We moved to a new house this spring. We inherited citrus and almond trees. We planted a berry patch and a grape arbor. We have space for a garden. Life hasn’t been boring. There’s always something that needs done.
Some of our plants have done better than others. Finding that right mix of fertilizer, water, soil mixture and sunshine has been more luck than conscious planning on our part. That zucchini is going to take over the world. The honeydew melon and the summer squash are sadly relegated to minions this year.
I could get all pithy and try to relate growing a story or even a writer’s career to my garden, but I think I refrain from taking the obvious route and instead go work on pruning, fertilizing and nurturing my work instead. I hope you’ll also thank me for the zucchini when it starts coming out our ears. =)
